Click to return to forms page

There are three different ways to print one of the pages in this site. You can:

• click on the Print button on the toolbar
•on the File menu, select Print
•just press Ctrl and P

Any of the these will send the current page to the printer, regardless of whether your computer is a PC or a Mac and whether your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator (although the menus may differ from those shown here).

Make sure the page will fit the printer
The Ports of Auckland website pages have been designed to be viewed on a computer display and they may not fit your printer output – you could find words or letters missing on the right-hand side of the printed page.If this is the case, go to Page Setup in the File menu and set the left and right margins to zero (see image at right).

This will work whether your computer is a PC or Mac and whether your browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

You could also try selecting Landscape (to the left of the Margins selection boxes, under Orientation), to print sideways across the paper, rather than down.

If you are still having difficulty fitting the page to the printer, you can scale down your page size – unless you are using Netscape Navigator on a PC.

ON A PC (Internet Explorer only): Click Printer in the Page Setup dialog box. This will open a second Page Setup selection window. In this window, click the Properties button to open open the printer Properties selection window.

In the Properties selection window, click on the Effects tab. In the Effects window (see image at right), enter a value of 75 in the "% of Normal Size" field and click OK.

Close the two Page Setup windows and save your new preferences by clicking OK in both.

Now you can print the scaled page.

ON A MAC (In either Netscape or Internet Explorer): Select Page Setup on the File menu bar to open the Page Setup selection window.

Type in a value of 75% in the Scale field and click the OK button to save your scale preference.

Now you can print the scaled page.

Adjusting the background
In a black and white printout you may find some text difficult to read because the background is a similar shade to the text. Or the background has not printed at all.

In both instances, you can control the printing of the background.

In Netscape Navigator go to Page Setup in the File menu (see image at right). Here, you can control whether the background is printed or not. You may also find it helpful to check 'Black text' to ensure that the text is printed as dark as possible.

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options (see image below right). Click the Advanced tab, scroll down to Printing and either check or uncheck Print background colors and images.
